Following the JFCT’s decision to create a legal-based Redress Scheme (‘‘the Scheme’’), lawyers on behalf of both the Trust’s Insurers and the Trust itself (“Scheme Solicitors”) have been working to align the Scheme with survivors’ preferences.
The Scheme Solicitors are creating the legal framework for the Scheme in conjunction with Solicitors who are representing survivors. These representatives are inputting the Scheme, its processes, and proposed tariffs. We expect a finalised draft of the Scheme to be completed soon.
Once completed, the finalised draft will need to receive actuarial oversight as well as approvals from all parties to the Scheme. The Trust cannot control all of the timings in relation to this and so the JF Redress Office is consequently unable, at present, to confirm when the Scheme will go live. We will, however, keep you informed of developments and let you know when a date has been set for this.
In the meantime, the JF Redress Office remains open to registrations from individuals wishing to seek redress.
